Ah, the editing of two hours of documentary for the Asia Pacific Forum continues. The first instalment on how human rights commissions work is all but finished except for some small breakout case studies. The second is on the rights of women and girls and is progressing steadily. Some of the stories of shifts in attitudes towards women around the region are positive and uplifting while others are utterly horrifying and don’t bear re-telling. Given the undisputed role that giving women access to education and properly paid work can play in the development of the third world, this film could be the most important I’ve worked on.
